ICYMI, our little Noah was born with a congenital heart defect.
Ever since his cardiologist cleared him for surgery, we’ve been talking and praying about when to do it.
Well, the answer is finally here: it’s happening Friday, April 14 - two weeks from today!
The surgery itself will take 4-5 hours, followed by a hospital stay of 5-6 days - for all of us.
We (meaning Matt and Katelyn) are still a bit traumatized by Noah’s time in the NICU. After looking at some photos and videos of other children who have had heart surgery (it’s recommended parents prepare themselves), we’re not exactly thrilled about what’s coming.
Luckily, this time we can be a little more prepared, and we know what to ask for - and how to ask for it!
We’ve set up a GiveInKind page that we will use for all major communication, notes, updates, and need requests before, during, and after the surgery. It’s pretty simple to sign up - you can make a new password or use an existing Google or Facebook account.
Through the page, we can request various “services” - meals, gift cards, prayer, mental health checks - and you can sign up to provide them. We can also post and send periodic emails with updates and photos from the hospital. Check the page regularly for updates, and feel free to share with anyone you think might want to help!
Thanks in advance for caring for us through this difficult time!
And thanks to everyone who rocked their socks for World Down Syndrome Day!
Prayers and Praises
Praises
We were able to secure a surgery date that worked for our schedules
The incredible generosity of our workplaces in allowing us to take so much time off for the surgery
All the love we saw on World Down Syndrome Day!
Prayers
Too many to name here - but overall, that the surgery goes well and recovery is swift
We need Noah to start drinking breastmilk from a cup, since he can’t breastfeed right away after surgery
That we all remain healthy so we don’t have to delay the surgery
I love to see pictures of Noah your mom shares with me! Sending lots of hugs and prayers for all of you tomorrow. Said a special prayer for your medical team as well!
Hugs to all of you.. sending up lots of prayers 🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️
