Yesterday was an exhausting day of pre-operative tests - an EKG, echocardiogram, pre-surgery screening and consent form signing, x-rays, pre-anesthesia interview, and bloodwork. Through it all, Noah was an absolute rock star!
There are some risks we knew about and some we didn’t. All of them are unlikely, and we’re reminding ourselves that the surgery is for Noah’s best. We also got news that his VSD - the other hole in the lower chamber of his heart - is no longer showing up on the echo! It closed on its own, a big answer to prayer!
The Nurse Practitioner was concerned about Noah’s congestion, lingering after a small cold two weeks ago. She said that if he tested positive for any viruses, we would have to reschedule the surgery. We waited all day today to hear the interpretation of the results and confirmation on the surgery, but even with our constant calling to check in, are still waiting. So at this point, we don’t know if he can have the procedure on Friday or not.
After all of that, Noah was incredibly tired…so after his nap, we took him to Central Park for his favorite thing: the swings! It was a really sweet way to end an otherwise stressful day!
