Hello again!
It’s been a busy three months for us since moving to Connecticut - setting up our new apartment, meeting and making new friends, and learning a new city.
Here’s a recap of what we’ve been up to:
OCTOBER
On October 1, we moved out of our Brooklyn apartment, packed our new car (!), and drove to our new home.
That same week, Noah was evaluated for Birth to Three, the CT Early Intervention program. His home-based appointments started two weeks later.
On the 18th, Noah had ear tubes put in at Yale Hospital.
Thankfully, it was a LOT less serious than open heart surgery. The whole thing lasted about five minutes, and we barely had time to sit down in the waiting room before it was all over.
It was worth it, though - we saw some immediate improvements in his hearing, as well as his receptive language and understanding.
We bought a hiking backpack and spent a few weekends taking advantage of the warm weather and all of the beautiful hiking trails around us!
On Halloween, Noah loved trick-or-treating, but not as much as he loved handing out candy to all the trick-or-treaters who came to our door.
NOVEMBER
We started taking advantage of all of our space (and empty sidewalks) to give Noah as much walking practice as possible. He loves going on walks with Iggy.
For Thanksgiving, we drove over 15 hours (!!) to Katelyn’s parents in North Carolina.
We broke the trip up over three days, stopping in NYC, Annapolis, and Greensboro before staying in Fayetteville for four days. Noah got to meet several aunts, uncles, and see his cousin Abby again.
On our way home, we stopped by NYC to visit Santa for the first time!
When we returned, we finally got his room all set up and he’s now sleeping in his own bed.
At the end of the month, Katelyn was promoted at Scholastic! She is now a Senior Manager. The additional income means Matt can continue staying home with Noah full-time.
DECEMBER
On December 2, we visited a Christmas tree farm and cut down our own tree!
On the 6th, Noah turned TWO. We can hardly believe it - we have a two-year-old! We took him out to a fancy family dinner (Olive Garden) and then later to one of the coolest children’s museums we’ve ever seen - KidCity in Middletown, CT.
A few days later, Matt sprained his ankle on our back staircase. He was in a walking boot for two weeks, which was especially challenging chasing around an active toddler…
After our Thanksgiving travel, we were very grateful to have a small Christmas at home, just the three of us. It was a joyful, quiet day.
Here’s to 2024
When we started 2023, we had no idea where we would end up by the end of the year. We are so grateful to have found a new place to land, for however long it may be. We’re so excited for all the new adventures 2024 will bring us, and we hope God blesses you and your family as well!
What a lovely family. Congrats on the move. Noah looks so happy in every picture. Does he ever throw tantrums as 2-year-olds are known to do?
So many fun events this past season! What an awesome way to end the year. I always think of you guys when I pass by 200 Schermerhorn. Wishing you the best of the best in 2024! Congratulations on the promo, the new house, Noah turning two, and everything else!!
